Leg Day was created in response to the energy around the 2024 Olympics. I was drawn to how fashion showed up within sports, from team uniforms to the people attending the events. It felt like fashion week inside of a performance space, which was something I had not explored deeply before.
The work looks at the body as both performance and form. I wanted to take something familiar, like a workout setting, and push it into something more sculptural and styled in an unexpected way.
It was created with designer Antonio Michelle, sculptor Emma Adler, hair artist Nely Arias, and Sasha Yaasir as the subject. Each collaborator helped shape the body into something that feels structured and intentional, rather than just styled. The figure becomes more than a subject. It becomes part of the composition itself.
This piece speaks to proof of life through connecting things that don’t always make sense at first, but still create a sense of inspiration. Materials like plastic bags, often seen as waste, are placed alongside a machine that feels unnecessary, yet familiar. The hair moves but feels still. The body shows effort. For me, it’s not just the image that represents proof of life, but the act of bringing these elements together. Blending unconventional materials with everyday actions creates a space where life feels less routine and more intentional. Even if it looks strange or unexpected, it reflects the decision to keep going and find meaning anyway. It becomes about giving new life to what might be overlooked. Taking what feels like waste, repetition, or excess, and shaping it into something that still holds energy, presence, and truth.
