“I choose this image for the Proof of Life exhibition because I wanted to show that the steps that Ella Watson took allowed woman today to run. Her ability to work thru the hardships of segregation gave hope to many woman who may have felt less than during that time. Even though she was a janitor, she displayed strength and perseverance. As she provided for her family when most would’ve gave up.”
